Cortland County Democratic Committee Endorses Beau Harbin for NYS Assembly 125th District
Beau Harbin, Cortland County Legislator and Minority Leader, Gets Support of Cortland Democrats
19 May 2020 — The Cortland County Democratic Committee announced its endorsement of Beau Harbin in his bid for the 125th Assembly District. The Cortland County Democratic Committee and its members work tirelessly to elect dedicated and committed Democrats to local, state, regional, and national offices.
In his time on the Cortland County Legislature, Harbin has fought against unfair tax burdens on City residents, advocated for the rights of the disabled through fair labor practices, and moved the County forward on climate change practices. According to Harbin: “Great ideas come from many places, which is why I have been actively involved in working with other leaders across our state. As an Appalachian Leadership Institute fellow, I have collaborated with leaders across the larger Appalachian region in order to see how our shared issues can be addressed.” Harbin believes strongly in the idea that government, in conjunction with private and not-for-profit partners, can be a positive force for good and a protector in our community, our state, and our nation.
"I am honored and humbled to have the support of the Cortland County Democratic Committee. I am ready to help lead our district in Albany and ensure the voices of all our residents are heard. As we move through our recovery of the COVID pandemic, we will need a strong advocate for our district who will work tirelessly to ensure that our community is a partner in this recovery and the future of New York State,” said Harbin. “I will bring a proven, principled and progressive style of leadership to Albany."
“Beau Harbin has represented the Democratic Party and its ideals as a County Legislator with an integrity that we would all be proud of representing us in Albany,” said Tim Perfetti, Chairman of the Cortland County Democratic Committee. “Beau understands the needs of rural New York as evidenced by his work in Cortland County Government, the Southern Tier 8 Regional Planning Board, the Appalachian Leadership Institute, and the Appalachian Regional Commission. Beau knows what this district needs to go from surviving to thriving.”
Beau Harbin is a Cortland County Legislator, Minority Leader, and Global IT professional. He is actively involved in numerous committees, organizations, and community boards and is a Fellow with the Appalachian Leadership Institute, working with leaders across the Appalachian region. He and his wife are raising two children in the Cortland community where they moved to in 2008.
